Monkeyfist Student form

Hou Quan Yi Lu 18-steps

In the first disciple form of the sublime Monkey Boxing combat style, the ancient techniques of the noble Monkey King Sun Wu Kung come to life. Like an echo from times past, the movements of this form unfold, paying homage to the venerable tradition of the ancient monkey styles. They embody the sacred gesture of reverence before an age-old temple altar, where incense rises into the air.

In a choreography of 18 fluid movements, the mystery of the ancient monkey combat techniques is revealed. The grandeur of this form manifests through high and low stances, in which the essence of leg techniques unfurls in the lower realm. Claws, flat hands, finger arts, strikes, and artful grips interweave in a dance-like synergy that can enchant and immobilize the adversary. Knee and throwing techniques imbue this harmony with an almost mystical power.

The aspirant moves in a straight line forward and backward, akin to a guardian of ancient knowledge passing through the gates of a temple. Three gates present themselves: a central gate, an entrance for spiritual spirits, and two flanking gates, each bearing a sacred significance. This sacred ballet is performed by the practitioner before the central gate, an act of immeasurable respect and devotion.

Through these movement forms, the mysterious greeting of the Monkey God is revealed, a dance of preparation for those who choose the path of the Monkey School. Through the fusion of body and mind, students are initiated into the profound mysteries of this exalted martial art system. The ancient traditional techniques of Monkey Kung Fu, bestowed by the Jiang family, unveil themselves to the seeker in all their splendor and magic.
