About Event
Core Techniques – The Three Locks
At the heart of Hou Quan Rou Shu are the Three Locks, a foundational framework within
this martial art. These include:
1. Body Locks
2. Arm Locks
3. Leg Locks
Through these, practitioners learn how to enter into their opponent’s defense and apply
a variety of advanced techniques, such as:
• Strangleholds
• Joint locks
• Spine twists
• Various submission techniques
These skills provide the practitioner with a comprehensive approach to ground combat,
including strategies for rolling on the ground as both a defensive and offensive tactic.
Unique Aspects of Monkey Fist Door Ground Combat
Unique Aspects of Monkey Fist Door Ground Combat
The Monkey Fist Door System, which includes the unique Monkey Forms, integrates not
only ground combat but also a full arsenal of standing techniques. These forms include
methods such as:
• Striking and kicking
• Grabbing and poking
• Snatching and locking
• Twisting and pressing
What sets the Monkey Style apart from other Chinese Kung Fu systems is its seamless
integration of stand-up fighting and ground combat skills. This dual focus makes it one
of the most versatile styles for practitioners, enabling them to adapt to various combat
scenarios, including modern-day self-defense and competitive sports.
A Practical Martial Art for Modern Combat
In today’s combat sports and self-defense culture, the ability to effectively transition between standing and ground fighting is invaluable. Hou Quan Rou Shu equips fighters with the skills needed to manipulate an adversary’s joints, control their movements, and secure submissions.
The effectiveness of this approach has been proven by Grandmaster Jiang Yu Shan, who successfully applied Hou Quan Rou Shu techniques in combat sports tournaments. His unique style, rooted in the Monkey Fist Door System, allowed him to achieve a winning streak and develop innovative strategies for both competition and self-defense.
For practitioners seeking a martial art that blends traditional techniques with modern practicality, Hou Quan Rou Shu offers a dynamic and effective system. Its combination of agility, ground combat, and joint manipulation makes it a distinctive and powerful style in the world of martial arts.
